Tower Bridge and its amazing nose bolts
Filmed in October 2023, this short video shows contractors working through the night to replace Tower Bridge’s 2m-long nose bolts.
Tower Bridge has four nose bolts slide which slide in and out of the bascules — the moving parts of the bridge — and lock the roadways in place when they are lowered.
This is the first time in decades they’ve been replaced and the work was done overnight to minimise disruption — carried out by South Yorkshire-based bridge specialists 3RS Engineering Ltd.
