Last McKean subsidiary fails

15 Jul 11 Merseyside-based Mayfield Âé¶¹Éç has followed its parent and sister companies into administration.

Mayfield was part of the McKean Group. Last month two other subsidiaries – McKean & Company (Glasgow) Ltd and Hudson Vision Ltd were wound up.

Now Mayfield Âé¶¹Éç Company Ltd, as well as the parent group company itself, are in the hands of administrators from Ernst & Young. More than 80 employees have lost their jobs.

McKean was established in 1918 as McKean & Renwick, Railway and Public Works Contractors.

Mayfield began in plant hire in 1965 and moved into public works contracting. It was acquired by McKean in 1999 when the founder retired.
